Lionfish are well-known for their beautiful appearance and venomous spines. In the Caribbean however lionfish are an invasive species without a natural predator. They indirectly cause a lot of harm to the Caribbean reefs as they eat all the smaller fish. A female lionfish can lay up to 300.000 eggs per year, so it's nearly impossible to stop them from spreading.
In Curacao our PADI dive centers therefore organize Lionfish hunts in order to save all other creatures on our reefs. Prior to the hunt you will be given proper training by an expert so everyone can attent responsibly.
